Untold Stories Exhibit

To celebrate Black History Month, the Brooksville Gallery 201 presents the Untold Stories exhibit! This exhibit features the untold story of Solomon Gavin, a Black artist who was raised in South Brooksville, and many other amazing local artists. On opening night, Isaiah Haddon of He Kindly and Lakeema Matthew collaborated with the kids to fill City Hall with music, joy, and huge smiles! Lakeema has artwork in the exhibit, and will also be unveiling a new mural of Jerome Brown today at City Hall.

Brooksville Matters

Head over to the Bistro in Brooksville to meet the new chair of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council, Allisa Babor! Allisa is the guest speaker at today’s Brooksville Matters meeting, and will be speaking about some of our favorite public art programs and opportunities!

Jerome Brown Mural Unveiling

Today, Brooksville Main Street is also unveiling their newest mural - a portrait of local hero, Jerome Brown, created by Lakeema Matthew! Join us at Brooksville City Hall at 3 PM to honor the life and legacy of an amazing community leader and beloved Brooksvillian.

Front Porch Art Walk

We hope to see you at our second Front Porch Art Walk this Saturday, February 4! This will be a monthly event taking place every first Saturday in Hernando Beach from 10 AM to 2 PM. This month, the art walk is expanding to include Brian’s Place and Coastal Living in addition to the Silver Dolphin! There will be 28 selected artists exhibiting their work.

Art on Fire Recognition

At the City Council meeting on February 6, the City would like to acknowledge the artists who painted first round of "Art on Fire" hydrants! Thank you to all of the incredible artists for your contribution of public art to the City of Brooksville!

This project was created in partnership with the City of Brooksville and Brooksville Fire Department. Design proposals are being considered for the second round of fire hydrants! Click here for more information about participating.

Mermaid Trail Festival

Brooksville Main Street is unveiling 18 new mobile murals at their annual Mermaid Trail Festival, and two new permanent murals. Toronto-based artist, Yasaman Mehrsa, will be putting the finishing touches on her mural right onsite in Hernando Park!

This is a free, family-friendly event with a mermaid costume contest and live music!

Bob Ross Class

Learn the ways of Bob Ross! Taught by Certified Ross Instructor and new Arts Council member, Autum Proctor, learn easy step-by-step techniques that Bob featured on his show to show you the ways of happy little trees! This class will be held at Rusted Jade Art Collective, owned by another Arts Council member, Max Grey.

Mermaid Tale Trail

After a hugely successful unveiling of the statues at Weeki Wachee, the mermaids are swimming to their new homes on the Tale Trail! On Monday, City Council unveiled their new mermaid, “Sirena de la Fruta” by Arielle Katarina, at Brooksville City Hall.

We are so grateful to Team Tourism at Florida’s Adventure Coast for the opportunity to partner on this new public art project, along with Brooksville Main Street.
