In celebration of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park’s 75th Anniversary, the Hernando County Fine Arts Council has partnered on two public art programs that will be unveiled this month! We also have two grant deadlines fast approaching - make sure you get your applications in ASAP!

PUBLIC ART PROJECTS

Multicultural Parade and Festival + Mural Unveiling

Brooksville Main Street will be unveiling 28 new Weeki Wachee-themed mobile murals this Saturday, 10/8, before they are installed around Downtown Brooksville. Join us at Hernando County’s first Multicultural Parade and meet the artists behind the fifth round of mobile murals! There will be 15 food trucks, live entertainment, and tons of local vendors. Be there at 10 AM to see the Multicultural Parade with Hernando Hispanic Heritage!

Mermaid Statue Unveiling

Florida’s Adventure Coast is unveiling 26 new mermaid statues! Each of the 6’ statues has been painted by a different local artist, and will be placed in different locations around Hernando County after the event to make the Mermaid Tale Trail. Paid park admission is required to view the statues at the anniversary celebration on 10/13.

GRANT PROGRAMS

The Hernando County Fine Arts Council offers two grants - the Community Arts Grant and the Arts in Education Program. These grant programs help us fulfill our mission to encourage, promote, and support all the creative arts in Hernando County and to provide a means to showcase the arts.

The deadline to apply for either of these grant programs is fast approaching! Please get your grant application in before the deadline this Friday, October 7, 2022.

Community Arts Grant

The Arts Council offers grants of up to $1,000 each for nonprofits to promote the arts in Hernando County. The Community Arts Grants Program is designed to involve county residents in creating, appreciating, supporting, participating in, or learning about the creative arts in Hernando County.

Arts in Education Grant

The Arts Council offers grants of up to $500 to certified visual or performing arts teachers in Hernando County. The purpose of this grant is to support arts educators in delivering and promoting arts experiences to the students of Hernando County.

Art Everywhere

The Arts Council is seeking artists and businesses to participate in our Art Everywhere initiative! Art Everywhere is a public art program that aims to pair local artists & businesses to maximize the display of art in Hernando County. Artwork will be on exhibit for a six month loan period. 38th Annual Art in the Park

Art in the Park, held annually on the second weekend of March, is dedicated to fine art, craftsmanship, and community. More than 100 artists and artisans gather at Tom Varn Park in Brooksville to showcase a wide variety of works and mediums in Hernando County’s largest juried art show. $6,500 in prize money!

Due to popular demand, the "In Touch with Nature" exhibit duration will be extended to the end of 2022! All scheduled shows for 2022 have been postponed until 2023.
